(Qasioun) - The Turkish Army General Staff said in its daily statement on Thursday that a total of 2,222 militants followed to the People’s defense units YPG and ISIS militant groups have been “neutralized” since the beginning of the running operation of Olive Branch launched in cooperation between Turkish army TSK and Free Syrian Army FSA.
The statement added "utmost importance" is being placed on not harming any civilians.
According to the Turkish General Staff, the operation aims to establish security and stability along Turkish borders and in the region as well as to protect Syrian people from the oppression and cruelty of terrorists.
On Thursday, The Free Syrian Army could capture on early Thursday on (Kharab Soloq, Haydar and Jaanky) villages and 3 strategic hills surrounding the villages near Rajo district in Afrin area northern Aleppo.
It came following violent battles against the Kurdish People's defense units YPG militant group, among the running military operation of Olive Branch, where the opposition factions aim to enter Rajo district, which is considered one of the prominent strongholds for YPG in the area.
Opposition factions approached during the last few days from opening a road between the Euphrates Shield areas, Idlib province and northern Syria, passing near the Turkish borders.
FSA could capture on Wednesday Anqala and Sennare villages in Sheikh Hadid district in Afrin area northern Aleppo's countryside, following battles against YPG among the running military operation of Olive Branch operation.
Turkish forces pushed wide military reinforcements to Afrin area from Turkey's Kilis city to join the operation launched on January 20 and could capture dozens of villages, towns and strategic hills.
