“Syrian Regime To Enter Afrin Within Hours” Says Pro-Syrian Regime Media

Damascus (Qasioun) – Syrian regime forces and the pro-Syrian regime militia would enter the area of Afrin, north of Aleppo within hours, said pro-regime media.

A Kurdish official told Reuters on Sunday that "Syrian Kurdish forces have reached an agreement with the Damascus regime to enter the Syrian army to Afrin region to repel the Turkish attack."

"The discussions between YPG and Damascus on Afrin are continuing, and we will announce their results once an agreement is reached," Rudaw quoted an information adviser at the People's Protection Units in Afrin.

On 20 January, Turkey announced the launch of a military operation called Olive Branch, targeting the People's Protection Units, in the Afrin area of northern Aleppo countryside.
